ME

Well, this my first “blog” – so it seems appropriate to put a little personal profile up.  I was born in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, which has the richest anthracite coal deposit in the world. So there’s fuel in my blood.  I grew up in Northern Virginia 20 minutes west of Washington, DC. So there’s politics in my blood.  I lived in Chicago for 7 years.  So there’s a love of ethnic diversity in my blood. I lived in Thomas, West Virginia in the Monongahela National Forest.  So there’s bluegrass, tree hugging, and an appreciation for rural life in my blood.  I moved to Austin, Texas to study for a master’s degree in social work, so there’s strong discipline and belief in social change in my blood. Now I’m living in Northern Ireland and gettin’ something else in my blood. I have no familial or any types of ties to this land, yet I have a great deal of respect for this place and the people here, and what I am infusing is deep, complex and embedded in this intense learning experience.
